The primary mission of JUMANA, UMANA's fifty year old scholarly journal, is to foster information exchange between Ukraine and the west and to contribute to the development of Ukrainian medical terminology. Articles are published in Ukrainian with substantive English summaries. JUMANA is a general medical and public health journal that publishes original papers, case studies, literature and book reviews, conference reports, biographical and historical sketches, and translations from leading American journals. JUMANA welcomes submissions in English or Ukrainian and, by prearrangement, in other languages. A recent development has been the publication of thematic issues, and future issues will include extensive summaries of high-impact medical articles and news items. JUMANA is distributed at no cost to medical and health related facilities and medical societies in Ukraine, where it has a readership of approximately 30,000 health care providers.
